Features Jerry Garcia/banjo, David Grisman/Mandolin, Richard Greene/fiddle, Peter Rowan/guitar and John Kahn/ bass. Bridging the divide between traditional & progressive bluegrass the bands interplay soars throughout the entire set. Highlights include a defining interpretation of the Stones Wild Horses and Peter Rowan's Panama Red. U.S.FM Radio Broadcast Live at the Calderone '76 by Bob Weir and Kingfish Legendary broadcast by WLIR-FM from the Calderone Theater, Hempstead, Long Island, New York on the 27th March 1976. Weir, a childhood friend of Matthew Kelly, joined the band in '74 securing them a record deal and bolstering their live performances with his distinctive vocals and unique guitar phrasing. An exceptional live band, this concert is testament to their tight yet fluid interplay. However, soon it was time for Weir to return to his day job and the completion of the Deads Shakedown Street but that s another story.....
