This one is extremely weird, even for his early 80s standards - this is the peak of this weirdness. Except for maybe 'I am the Future', there isn't a single 'normal' song on this album. These songs are rather strange, little tales than regular tunes you could actually sing along with Alice. Some of them do have some catchiness - Zorro's Ascent (who else could write a song about Zorro laying on his death bed?), Adaptable, Tag, You're It and I Better Be Good. I already mentioned 'I am the Future', which is a pretty good balladish number. I guess you need to give this album a couple of listens before it really sinks in. Which is not to say that it definitely will. It's worth a try, though. If you're not afraid of new experiences and like your music weird (yes, I am overusing this word, it sums up this record perfectly. Peculiar, maybe?) this one could be something for you. I do not happen to be in love with any of these tunes, but I don't regret buying it. But hell, I am a die-hard fan, so don't mind me.
Oh, and the lyrics are just crazy - clever, hillarious and simply outrageous. Alice must have been in a srange state of mind those days...
