The first CD release of a previously unreleased album by Strawbs – restored and remastered. Presented as a 24 track CD - the original album, alternative recordings and mixes, out-takes and unreleased tracksThe album features guest appearances from John Paul Jones, Nicky Hopkins.
This is the long-lost, never released, Strawbs album. Produced by Gus Dudgeon with Tony Visconti as musical director, it falls between the 1967 recording of ‘All our own work’ by Sandy Denny and the Strawbs and the first A&M album ‘Strawbs’ released in 1969. It is a mix of lavish orchestral stylings, a concept, a sense of humour, and the modal harmonies and tunings that have come to define Strawbs music over the years. This extraordinary album features John Paul Jones, Nicky Hopkins, Ray Cooper, and Ronnie Verrell, and has many bonus features including an interview with a shopkeeper played by Richard Wilson who had an encounter with a man who called himself Jesus, and Tony Visconti impersonating Ed Sullivan.
