- In 1963 guitarist Spencer Davis founded the Rhythm And Blues Quartet. The line-up featured the Winwood brothers Stevie (vocals and keyboards) and Muff (bass), together with drummer Pete York
- subsequently the band became the Spencer Davis Group. In 1970 Davis relocated to America where, in 1984, he recorded the solo album Crossfire with an eclectic ensemble of fine guest artists: Dusty Springfield, Flo & Eddie and Booker T. Jones. The entire album is featured here on Old Friends, which furthermore contains new original songs and re-recordings or live versions of classic Spencer Davis Group hits.
